Policy placement opportunity at the Royal Society

The Royal Society is looking for an early career researcher to complete a placement of up to six months who will work on and support policy projects within its emerging technologies team. The successful candidate will work on a number of varied projects including two larger programmes exploring neural interfaces and novel materials respectively. The role will also involve scoping for new projects across the spectrum of science and technology for the emerging technologies team to consider.

No specific academic background is required but an interest in, and knowledge of, emerging technologies and their technical, scientific and societal challenges would be beneficial. There will be opportunity to lead on and complete discrete pieces of work and build networks with leading academics, government, and industry.

This opportunity has arisen via the Universities Policy Engagement Network. Should a researcher from Oxford secure this placement, the University will support him/her as an Oxford Policy Engagement Network Fellow. The maximum amount per Fellowship award is £25,000, to be spent between 1 August 2019 and 31 July 2020.
