The Department of Economics at Oxford is one of the largest and most diverse groups of academic economists in Europe, including many who have made major recent contributions to modern economic analysis.

We are a broad-based department producing first-class research across the range of the discipline with particular strengths in microeconomic theory, including behavioural economics and game theory; econometrics, both time-series and micro-econometrics; economics history; development economics; international economics

The Department is committed to excellence in teaching at the undergraduate and graduate level.  For the fourth consecutive year, Oxford Economics is ranked in the top two for the study of economics in the UK, by all of the university guides. 

Since its introduction in 1920, Philosophy, Politics and Economics has established an unrivalled reputation as the degree programme for able young people seeking careers in politics and public life. At the postgraduate level, the Department’s MPhil and DPhil programmes are internationally recognized for the excellence of the training and scholarship provided.
