The ESRC Festival of Social Science returns from 7-15 November 2020 with hundreds of free public events across the UK – and we want you to be a part of it!
The Festival provides a unique opportunity for Oxford social scientists to engage people creatively in their research, and to showcase the vital contribution of social sciences research to the wellbeing of society by addressing complex global challenges. Events provide a space for researchers of all career stages to try out public engagement activities and to maximise the reach of their research to young people, policymakers, and wider non-academic communities.
Events led by Oxford researchers in 2019 ranged from pub quizzes and panel discussions to immersive photography exhibitions and art workshops, and you can read Q&As with 2019 event-hosts Dr Chico Camargo (Oxford Internet Institute) and Dr Maria Christodoulou (Department of Statistics) about their experiences.
The 2020 Festival will be digital, and provides an opportunity to test out new formats and engagement ideas.
Following a call earlier in the year, we are now re-opening the opportunity to be part of the 2020 Festival. For more information and how to apply:
Deadline for applications: 12 noon, Friday 11 September 2020
