Blavatnik School of Government – training the leaders of tomorrow

Blavatnik school of government

The Blavatnik School of Government is a global school pursuing a vision of better government, stronger societies and richer human opportunities across the world.

Established at the University of Oxford in 2010, the School was made possible through the generosity of US-based businessman Leonard Blavatnik. Its doors first opened in 2012 to students studying for its flagship one-year Master of Public Policy degree. It is now also possible to study for a doctoral degree in public policy.

‘We envision a world better led, a world better served, a world better governed,’ says Professor Ngaire Woods, Dean of the Blavatnik School. ‘The School seeks to equip leaders - present and future - with the knowledge, experiences and a global peer group which will help them to transform the opportunities of those they serve.’

Why give?

At Oxford we provide the knowledge base and inspiration for new policies to address these challenges and to promote sustainability and social change and the preservation of human diversity and culture. Economists, sociologists, lawyers and political scientists hold offices in governments and leadership worldwide and policy makers turn to Oxford for research and advice.
