Esrc impact acceleration account

The Economic and Social Research Council originally awarded the University of Oxford an Impact Acceleration Account (IAA) of just under £1m to fund Knowledge Exchange (KE) and impact activities across the social sciences for the period 2014-2018. An additional £400K has been awarded for the period 2018-19.

Oxford’s overarching vision for the IAA is to support ‘Partnerships Enabling Research with Impact’. We will use the IAA to support our researchers to deliver more significant and wide-ranging impact, by embedding KE and impact within the research process.

If you have any questions, please email for further advice and assistance.

Oxford’s ESRC IAA objectives:

  • Support and incentivize social science researchers across a Regional KE Partnership to engage with the KE agenda and make a difference to people’s lives with their research, and to build on existing relationships between individual researchers and external stakeholders.
  • Initiate, build, and consolidate partnerships with an array of external stakeholder organisations in relevant sectors (policy, practitioner, industrial, commercial and community) to embed KE activities into everyday research practice.
  • Develop researchers’ skills and tools by sharing best practice across all four Regional KE Partnership HEIs through a programme of training and skills development to improve capacity to engage and exchange knowledge via the medium of research.

O2RB Regional Knowledge Exchange Partnership

We are delighted to be partners with three other higher education institutions, the Open University, Oxford Brookes University and the University of Reading, to create our Regional KE Partnership (O2RB).

The intention is to encourage researchers in the four institutions to work together on collaborative projects that are both inter- and multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional, bringing in external partners and stakeholders from the local region and beyond at the beginning of the process to co-design, develop and deliver research and other activity that has impact.
