At LiveFriday we got the chance to listen to the Morin Khuur.  It's the national instrument of Mongolia, and plays an important part in Mongolian culture, and is played throughout the year at various festivals and celebrations

On the national festival "Naadam" praise songs are played for the most magnificent horse and for the highest ranked wrestler and archer. The songs are called "Magtaal" and accompanied by a unique style of praise and morin khuur.

Many Mongolians have an instrument in their home, because it is a symbol for peace and happiness.
