Two students from Social Sciences Division honoured with prizes at Encaenia

We are delighted that two students from the Social Sciences Division received prizes for their academic performance at Encaenia, Oxford’s honorary degree ceremony, which took place last week.

Sarah Ball of St Cross College won the Oxford Internet Institute Prize for the best MSc Social Data Science thesis.

Matthew Doran of Brasenose College won the CDD Gibbs Prize in Geography for the best overall performance in written examinations and the JCA Meldrum Essay Prize in Geography for the best overall performance in submitted essays.

The two students graduated in 2022. Eight students from across the University’s four divisions received prizes.

Encaenia is the annual ceremony at which the University awards honorary degrees to distinguished men and women and commemorates its benefactors. It is held on the Wednesday of ninth week during Trinity Term.
