Are you a social sciences researcher keen to develop mutually beneficial partnerships with public, policy, or business partners? Would you like some dedicated time to invest in collaborative working with those partners
The Social Sciences Engagement Fellowships scheme enables social scientists to engage with non-academic stakeholders to build lasting partnerships, develop new engagement skills and experiences, enhance their profile with stakeholders, and grow their research impact.
The scheme enables social sciences researchers to spend up to six months funded time embedded with or visiting non-academic partners (outward), or for practitioners from those organisations to spend time embedded with a team/department at Oxford (inward).
Given the ongoing challenges with the COVID-19 pandemic globally, we acknowledge that the typical in person inward/outward fellowship model may not be feasible. We encourage applications including novel forms of engagement with stakeholders, that allow for researchers to dedicate time for creative virtual engagement with partners or stakeholder groups where face-to-face is difficult.
Funding of up to £20,000 is available to support staff time to enable the exchange of learning, ideas, and experiences with partners to deliver mutually beneficial outcomes, impacts and ongoing partnerships.
We welcome applications with partners from any sector but this year we particularly welcome proposals for innovative projects working with
- Public-facing or community organisations, such as community-led initiatives, charities, social enterprises, local authorities, or creative industry and arts partners, and
- Projects working with business and industry partners, such as private sector organisations, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), social enterprises, industry bodies, or other industrial network organisations
