One of the most consistent pieces of feedback we’ve had from divisional induction events in pre-Covid times is how much new students value coming together in an informal setting and just chatting to us, and one another.
We thought about how to achieve this for 2021, recognising there will be different levels of comfort with meeting as a group indoors for purely social purposes, and then it hit us – we could lead a few coffee walks around some of our favourite green spaces in the city. All very relaxed, friendly and welcoming, each one taking about an hour and starting near a café so you can pick up a drink if you haven’t brought one from home. There’ll be chat (if you want it – quiet walkers are also welcome) some excellent ‘wild Oxford’ photo opps, and a shared sense of getting to know the city a bit better.
It may well rain on one or all of the dates (Oxford’s a rainy city in the autumn and winter months), but whatever the weather Amber and I will be walking, so if it’s wet, do put on your waterproofs and join us – the places are no less beautiful in a downpour!
DTP students are also welcome to come along
