Just 1.5% of GCSE students study a book by a writer of colour. In partnership with the University of Oxford's Department of Education, Penguin Books and the Runnymede Trust are helping to break the barriers for inclusive reading in schools through their Lit in Colour project. Professor Velda Elliott was commissioned to carry out independent research to uncover these barriers and provide actionable recommendations for change.
