Research Culture Facilitator
As Research Culture Facilitator for the Social Sciences Division at University of Oxford, I engage with academics, research staff and professional services colleagues to drive positive culture change within the Division and across the research community at Oxford more broadly. As part of this, I support departments to identify, share and scale up examples of existing good practice as well as to design, deliver and measure the impact of opportunities for improvement. I also work to join up Research Culture activities across and beyond the Division, creating alignment with the University's programme of work on Research Culture, in addition to collaborating with Research Culture Facilitators in the other Divisions to generate a coherent approach to our activities.
I work closely with the Divisional Advocate for Research Staff and the Research Staff Forum to help offer researchers a voice, as well as with colleagues specialising in the various areas related to Research Culture, such as REF, EDI, HR, careers and research practice. Drawing on information from across the University, good practice at other research institutions and empirical evidence from within the field, my aim is to help nurture an inclusive, supportive and empowering research environment, taking into account the specific needs of the Social Sciences Division and its constituent departments.
I am also responsible for ensuring that the Division's professional development provision for research staff meet the community's needs, and for enabling broad awareness of, and engagement with, the range of opportunities that are available. I represent the University on the Researchers14 working group and am a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel Development (CIPD) and the Association for Research Management and Administration (ARMA).
I hold an MSc in Psychology and Business, and prior to working in Research Culture, I spent 12 years in academic publishing, including 9 years working on Social Sciences publications for Taylor & Francis.
I am keen to listen to and learn from our research community and encourage you to reach out to me if you have any questions or ideas about how we can enhance our Research Culture within the Division.
