The Division allocates £30,000 on an annual basis to fund the TDEP awards scheme. Grants up to either £6,000 or £10,000 can be requested depending on the scope of the project:
- Grants up to £6,000 can be awarded to projects that directly benefit students from a single department or unit. Applicants must have the support of their department.
- Grants up to £10,000 can be awarded to projects that benefit students in multiple departments/ units. Projects focused on the development of initiatives that support the sharing of research methods and skills training are also eligible.
Criteria
Criteria for the awards is broad and grants can be used to support a diverse range of work. Funds can be used to support an entirely new provision, the development of existing provision, or to fund an aspect of a larger project. Eligible projects may encompass a range of activity including the purchase of learning technology or teaching material, the production of teaching material, or as ‘buy-outs’ of staff resource. Grants may be awarded for projects expected to run for longer than one year, or to underpin the cost of delivering a course in its first year as a pilot, in order to establish demand.
Eligibility and how to apply
The scheme is open to staff who teach in disciplines and subject areas within the division’s remit. The scheme is open to departmental academic and CRS who teach, plus administrative or technical staff who teach (e.g. certain areas of research skills training). A separate scheme exists for library staff who should consult the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
Applications may be made by individual staff members, by a team/group, or on behalf of a committee.
Schedules for the awards are announced annually during Michaelmas Term. Information will be available soon for the 2025/2026 awards.
