Planning for Impact: The Theory of Change Approach

Aimed at researchers who currently hold research grants, researchers on large-scale projects, research centre staff and new funding applicants, this workshop will cover the fundamentals of strategic planning for research impact and knowledge exchange, and introduce the Theory of Change methodology as a tool to plan your engagement activity for improved outcomes.

 

Anticipated learning outcomes for participants include:

 

  • Deeper understanding of the principles of engagement, knowledge exchange and impact
  • How to set realistic, scalable impact goals and plan feasible pathways for realising them
  • How to effectively identify appropriate likely non-academic collaborators and knowledge exchange partners and plan relevant engagement activities
  • Insight into the Theory of Change methodology and how it might be used to strategically plan for future activity, such as target funding calls, planning and funding engagement opportunities and subsequent evaluation Insight into further support via other engagement activities within Social Sciences Division and network with other researchers and potential collaborators.
