The Senior Appointments Panel (SAP) governs salary setting for senior staff in the University. The SAP is chaired by the Vice-Chancellor.
The SAP considers a range of issues, including:
- super-scale payments for senior staff on the basis of recruitment of retention. This includes academic and senior research staff as well as senior administrative staff.
- salary setting for Statutory Professors
- the creation and salary setting of RSIV (senior researcher) posts
- the creation and salary setting of ALC6 (senior administrative) posts
- the award of the title of Professor on the grounds of recruitment or retention
- the annual Recognition of Distinction exercise
- the biennial Professorial Merit Pay exercise
